It’s another week of The Weekly Reset! If you didn’t get a chance to read last week’s email, you can click here to read a copy. Today is Christmas Eve here in the United States, and I am wishing you a wonderful holiday. I am so grateful for you being a part of my community and I want you to know that means so much to me. Getting to speak into your life, to encourage and inspire you, is truly an honor and a gift. Thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your world 😉
SO LET’S DO THIS…
One topic that I have been researching a lot lately is the myth of multi-tasking. This came on my radar a few months ago as I began to notice the term “single-tasking” in different articles and posts I was reading. Delving deeper, I discovered that somewhere along the line we had been taught to glorify the ability to multi-task, even though only 2% of the population can do it successfully, and our brains aren’t even wired that way. I think about my own habits of playing on my phone while watching a movie (and missing all kinds of details) or trying to have a conversation with Mr. Crafty (when I am distracted by my inner thoughts). “Can you repeat that last sentence?“, is what I hear myself say to him too often. Maybe it’s my INFProots showing, but multi-tasking for me is an exercise in misery. For instance, I can’t shop for two meals at the same time without a list and often, having a conversation while performing a task, means I miss half of what was being said.
The first year I chose a word for the year, I chose ‘focus’ and failed miserably. In fact, I don’t know a single person who has ever been successful with it. Maybe because we need to change some profound behaviors or thought processes to make it work. Focus is a commitment, yo.
Once I fell in love with the idea of single-tasking, I made a Pinterest board to start collecting my research and was delighted to discover many bloggers have already been posting useful tips and advice about it’s merits. Now with simple living and self-care more of a trend than ever, single-tasking has found a stronger platform. I am really committed to making single-tasking my new mantra for how I get things done next year.

As part of my own self-care platform in the Reset Communities, I will definitely be talking more about single-tasking and sharing tips and successes along the way. I really think it’s a solution for some of the overwhelm I sometimes feel when handling projects or trying to juggle too many. Maybe taking this approach can help with anxiety and depression? It’s worth finding out.
THIS WEEK’S ROUND UP
Okay friends, here’s a couple more things I rounded up for you:
CURRENTLY JOURNALING: Do you journal? I know many of us kept a diary as kids, but making time for journaling is much harder when you have to adult so much. I love the idea of journaling, but really want it to be a daily practice. Right now, my daily journaling is nothing more than some bullets of information I record about my day. Pretty mundane stuff gets included like the weather, what I ate, what time I went to bed or woke up. I hope to expand my bullets into concrete thoughts one day and develop it into a self-care habit after being inspired by this post from one of my favorite bloggers Simply + Fiercely. Want to give it a try or need more inspiration for your own journaling? How about some weekly prompts to kick off a weekly habit of journaling? If you want to make it a daily habit, a focus on gratitude is a great way to start your day or you can use some easy prompts to give you a jumping off point.
CURRENTLY READING (FAITH): I have become obsessed with Bible study, which is awesome since I am launching a podcast in a couple weeks 🙂 I even bought a new Bible again, although to be fair it’s a special interleavened version. And I plan to mark it all up with messy notes a la Soul Scripts-style, her pages are a notetaker’s dream. I’ve found that finding the perfect Bible setup is a lot like finding the perfect planner setup. There.are.so.many.variables. When I read lately, I have 3-4 Bibles and/or references out on my desk and I love it. Some resources that have really fired me up were these tips for how to read the Bible, these study tips for the easily distracted, and what it means to walk with God in the first place.
Well, that’s it for now…I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
Love, Cori
